Disclaimer: The CLU Rust project is still in its conceptualization and planning stages, so everything discussed in this post is subject to change.

If you’re the learn-to-do type who don’t need no tutorial video and enjoy elements of both PVE (player versus environment) gameplay and the full, savage chaos of a cut-throat PVP (player versus player) server, then get ready for the PURGE experience on CLU Rust.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Think about the Purge movie franchise and how chaos ensues after a period of violence-free harmony. Now, apply that logic to a game based off brutality and survival, then you’ll get what we mean by a PURGE server.

In this server mode the Rust Project intends to implement, a player spends the first 75% of the allotted two-week period before the server completely resets in a PVE experience. For this reason, Rust players may choose to build elaborate traps and arsenals. Once the server goes into a full raid and free-for-all kill mode, the cleverest Rusters who prepared the best in advance and survive the carnage will reign supreme.

Crypto Earning System: The potential to earn in-game crypto will, as a result, be more aimed towards quests — much like the PVE server — in the beginning. Destroying fellow players and raiding their super sweet bases will be how you earn in the last little stretch before refresh.

The PURGE experience the Rust Project intends to offer will be a great introduction to PVP gameplay. It will also give those who want more of a challenge in game an opportunity to learn the ropes and die in glorious style. It’ll become a stepping stone on your way to legendary Rust status, and absolutely necessary if you’re like me and suck at all things PVP.

Becoming a Legend in Rust

This CLU chick is going to give you cute little tricks to help you become a Rust-savvy desperado.

In PURGE mode, it’s the most elaborate and well thought out death traps and preparations that could get you crowned “Deadliest Purge Dude” in our Rust CLUmmunity. These insightful tips may be the difference between living when you should’ve died, and I’m happy to know the right people who are much better players than I am to explain them to you.

Airlock Everything: One way to guarantee you’re ready for sinister types looking to raid your super sweet secret base, airlock any access points. Simply, this term refers to placing doors in a number of ways to give you a place to shoot from and avoid invasion. They won’t be able to enter without breaking the door down, and you’ll be able to shoot them freely while cackling like a madman.

Check out the picture below to see examples. Remember, the doors need to swing towards each other to create the “airlock.”

Shotgun Traps Are For Winners: Another way to bring down potential raiders is by setting up a shotgun trap at different access points. With a cleverness befitting a mastermind villain, you could decimate your opponent without ever lifting a finger.

Check out the image below for an example of one such set-up.

Be part of the change: You could be the reason our project gets named! Do you aspire to immortalize yourself in the CLU Rust space? A little devil (or it may have been Gordon) told me you could even earn a cash prize if your name is chosen for the project. Head over to our twitter and partake in the naming post.

The upcoming PURGE server will be another way to change it up and experience more challenging Rust gameplay. It also gives the seasoned players more time to build elaborate designs and create incredible houses of death and despair that would be difficult to accomplish in a PVP server.

Watch this space for more Rust updates and join our CLU Discord to hang out with all us cool kids who frequent the chat.
