Oh, hello CLU fam! I’m back with a fancier blog space and the hair style of a goddess. Okay, not really, because I have four kids and learning basic crypto has turned me into the Swamp Thing.
You may have heard of the notorious game, Rust, and how its community’s number one rule is “No trust in Rust.” But after talking to Gordon from The Gordon Project, who works for CLU and sports a sinister cackle of a witch about to cast an evil spell on you, the Rust project is about to bring CluCoin’s special brand of inclusion, fun, and community to Rust’s servers.
First, the game itself has a cornucopia of incredible features that will razzle and dazzle you into wanting to play. Its graphics are of the highest quality. The gameplay is unique and interesting, and Rust has incredible landscapes, where you can find a cozy cuddle spot and just live out your days planting potatoes and playing guitar.
It is also, however, a cut-throat survival game where the player is responsible for everything. From shelter and food, to their overall protection against other players and wildlife, the game will dazzle as much as frustrate you.
Due to its high specs, you’ll need to have at least 10 gigs of RAM (16 gigs is preferable) and high-speed internet so you don’t become me and end up waiting for four hours and some change on the initial download.
This ain’t no child’s play game. Really, it’s not. Make sure you fiddle with the settings to make it more child-appropriate because streaking in moonlight isn’t just for werewolves when it comes to Rust.
And no, there aren’t any werewolves. I checked thoroughly. But…there are bears.
In summation: scenic views, freedom to do what you want, and a new way to live — the way Gordon tells it, Rust is a lifestyle for those who play. What you have, how many items you own, and the spaces you build don’t necessarily mean much. Instead, the number of hours you play dictates your standing within the Rust community.
Why Rust? Despite the nature of the gameplay, Rust’s community, though at times toxic, band together around helping others and charity. The powerful community, when it comes to real life need, are formidable with their support.
Sound familiar? That’s because the CLUmmunity was built on the very same ideals of helping others and tackling real-life problems.
So, what does this mean for CLU? I spent a little time with the creator of The Gordon Project, whose legacy precedes him, and was given a crash course on what’s to come for the CLUmmunity with Rust.
In-game crypto earning: First and foremost, a player can earn crypto simply for playing the game. Details about the related token and earning system are still being hammered out. Despite the nature of the Rust world and its love for stealing things, your in-game NFTs will be safely stowed away in your wallet.
Land for Sale: You can acquire land within the game and several bonuses will be offered to players who do. You can expect upcoming opportunities to buy some land listed on the website CluCoin is creating for Rust.
In-game Quests: One thing Gordon mentioned was custom quests added to the game, where a player can earn not only crypto, but NFTs as well. He assured me that these quests will be accessible for both newer, amateur players as well as die-hard, live-eat-breathe Rust players.
Custom Maps and Servers: To start, there will be ten custom maps and four servers specific to CLU’s community. These will obviously be open to the Rust public, but offer a sort of community experience within the game.
CLUmmunity Inclusion Opportunities: Opportunities presented to the community will come in the way of naming maps, monuments, non-player quest characters (which can be named after CLU members), and devising secret locations and items to discover.
You can actually become LORD OF THE LAND, and immortalize yourself in the Rust game servers. How cool is that!
More to come, of course. This is only a short list of all the integrations and opportunities that will come with Rust and gameplay. The sky’s the limit, and this is only the beginning.
